Complete guide for using Priv Protocol

User Guide

Welcome to Priv, the privacy-first payment protocol built on Solana. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to send and receive private payments using our web dashboard, payment links, and Telegram bot.

What is Priv?

Priv lets you send and receive payments on Solana while keeping your wallet address private. When someone sends you money through Priv, your main wallet address stays hidden from the blockchain. Only you can see and claim the payment using your private view key.

Think of it like having a private mailbox. People can send you mail (payments) to your mailbox address (meta-address), but they can't see where you actually live (your real wallet address).

How Priv Works

For Senders

When you send a payment through Priv:

  1. You connect your wallet and choose how much to send
  2. You enter the recipient's meta-address (starts with priv:ma:)
  3. Your payment goes into a secure escrow on the blockchain
  4. You get a payment link to share with the recipient
  5. Your identity as the sender is visible on-chain, but the recipient's wallet stays private

For Recipients

When you receive a payment through Priv:

  1. You share your meta-address with people who want to pay you
  2. Priv automatically scans for incoming payments using your view key
  3. When a payment arrives, you'll see a "Claim" button in your dashboard
  4. Claiming is free (we pay the gas fees for you)
  5. The tokens go directly to your wallet without revealing your address publicly

What You Can Do with Priv

Web Dashboard

Our main web interface lets you:

  • Send private payments in USDC or SOL with custom expiry times
  • View incoming payments and claim them with one click
  • Manage contacts to save frequently-used meta-addresses
  • Track payment history with detailed status updates
  • Connect multiple wallets including Phantom, Solflare, and Backpack

Every payment creates a shareable link that:

  • Works like a digital check anyone can cash
  • Can be shared through email, chat, or social media
  • Expires automatically if not claimed in time
  • Allows the sender to get a refund after expiry

Telegram Bot

Send and receive payments directly through Telegram:

  • Quick commands for checking balances and sending payments
  • Link your wallet to your Telegram account
  • Get notifications when payments arrive
  • Perfect for casual payments between friends

Privacy and Security

Priv is designed with privacy at its core:

  • Recipient Privacy: Your wallet address is never publicly linked to incoming payments
  • Stealth Addresses: Each payment uses a unique one-time address
  • View Keys: Only you can see payments sent to your meta-address
  • On-Chain Security: All payments are secured by Solana's blockchain
  • No KYC Required: Start using Priv immediately with just a wallet connection

Supported Tokens

Currently, Priv supports:

  • USDC - The most popular stablecoin on Solana
  • SOL - Solana's native token

More tokens will be added based on community demand.
